SEO techniques

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the technique of increasing the web site's exposure to different search engines. The goal of the search engine optimizer is to get top rankings on the search engine result page for search queries. Most of the internet users used to click on the first few results of a search, especially if their search needs were met with an exact find (maximum up to 3rd page of search engine result page). SEO techniques also help to bring new visitors to sites through referrals from many other sites and directories.

How it works!
Search engines use what is called a spider to reach out into the Internet to find new and updated websites. As a page is published, the spider stumbles upon the page depending on what words, images, video or other content is on the page. The spiders don’t actually recognize the images or the videos; they recognize the words in the description of the image or video. When someone does a search that includes these words, the search engine pulls that up in its results. These words are called keywords. The more often these keywords are used in a webpage the better chance the search engine will see it and put it up on the results. The more keywords, including combinations of keywords, the higher the page will show up in the search engine ranking.

The spider also used to refer to the Title and the Meta tags on the page, Heading, content and links to the site from other websites. But you have to make sure that you stock each of these areas well with your primary keywords (for which you are optimizing your site) but don’t overdo it because the spiders do seem to have a temper and pages do get banned. A 2% to 7% density of keywords is the preferred standard. Also it depends upon the page. If it sounds good and relevant to your page content, then there is no problem even if the percentage increases to 12.

This is why the webpage code is so important. Many people spend a lot of time making their web pages look visually appealing to people, but they don’t think about the spiders in the search engines. Spend more time on your web site’s code for search engine optimization and you will find yourself getting high rankings. I am not saying to create a page for any spider (or software), the page should be for the human visitors but should be well optimized from search engine's point of view.

SEO techniques for top ranking
Title: This is the name that you can see at the top of the window of your web browser (Blue Bar), also called the Title Bar. Make sure that your title is short and descriptive. It also needs to contain the targeted keywords that are relevant to your site. The search engines also use to show this title in the search engine results. Hence, it should clearly describe your sites content so that the users will be interested in coming to your site.

Keywords: Keywords are an important part of SEO techniques. Unfortunately many webmasters overdo it. Keywords are one of the most important factors in ranking high on search engines. You will find many tips on adding keywords, such as ALT tags, anchors and other areas. While these are meant to be used if you want to help boost your keywords, they should be relevant to the image or the place where you are linking. Many people try to stuff keywords into every possible place. As a general rule, I would say you can optimize one page with 3 keywords or phrases. I would recommend starting with one or two. But never overuse the keywords. Again, it is wise to put other relative key words (secondary & tertiary) that are similar but not quite the same as your main key words. The main benefit of using such keywords for bringing new visitors to your site through long tail key phrases. By having a wide variety and volume of key words in your webpage you may very well be the only result when someone uses one of those combinations of keywords in their search. This technique is very successful but many people do not use it. When trying to get new visitors to your site you will want to use as many strategies as possible. Using alternative keywords is a strategy that you should use for every page just like you use main keywords.

Meta tags: There are two parts to the Meta-tag:
1. Description
2. Keywords

The description should be short, but it should sound logical and descriptive to the reader. Many times this will be the text that is seen under your title during the search. You will want to give the reader a small overview of the page. Write something that will make them understand what the page is all about and force them want to click on your site.

The keywords will be the same keywords that you have thought of while running your SEO research. These are the same key words that are also in the text of your page.

Links: When other sites on the web link to your site, the search engine spider finds these links and counts it as a vote of support. The more quality pages that link to your page, higher ranking in the search engine. A great way to get one way links is directory submission. Also if you have unique and informative content on your page, then other sites will be interested in linking to your site and refer their visitors to your site.

Many websites don’t get visitors because of low search engine rankings. Use the above discussed SEO techniques to maximize your search engine rankings and achieve your objective with good number of visitors through organic results.

Keywords

Keyword research is very important. It can make or break a campaign. All of your web pages should have targeted keywords, but which ones? How do you research and choose the right keyword for your project?
It is very hard to have a successful search engine optimization campaign without proper keyword research. Your main objective, when selecting a keyword is to get your website to show in the search results for key phrases that will benefit your project or business.

How Do I Find The Right Keywords?

There are specific keyword research tools online that help internet marketers find the right keywords for their campaigns. There are free and paid tools available.
Below is a short list of the ones I recommend (free and paid).
Free Keyword Research Tools
Paid Keyword Research Tools
I personally use Market Samurai for all of my keyword research. It is a reasonably priced product and most importantly, it is a very powerful tool for researching keywords. I highly recommend it.
A free alternative would be Google keyword tool. It features a high quality, clean and frequently updated keyword database. It’s nowhere near as powerful as Market Samurai but if your on a budget it will work.
Wordtracker is also a good alternative but it is limited to 100 results. If you want to see all the keywords, you will have to pay.

How Do I Choose The Right Keyword?

Because it’s free, I will use Google keyword tool for this article.
Basic keyword research is fairly simple.
First, you will have to enter a keyword or phrase that best describes your project or web site. For this example, I will use the phrase “Real Estate”.
As you can see, globally, over 30 million searches are made for the phrase “Real Estate” every month. Ranking on the first page of Google for this phrase would be very profitable but to do so will take an extensive amount of money and time.

Be realistic with keyword selection

If you sort the results by global monthly searches, you’ll see that the phrase “real estate in new jersey” has only 246,000 monthly searches. It has significantly less searches than the phrase “real estate” but, selecting a longer tailed keyword like this will be more targeted to your business (if you have a real estate business in New Jersey).
This keyword will take less time and cost less to optimize for because there is less search volume and less competition. You can use even longer tailed keywords like “buy real estate in new jersey” or “new jersey real estate for sale”.
Remember, just because the keyword has less search volume doesn’t mean it will be less profitable.

Importance of links exchange

Making money online is your one stop shop for tools, software and tips on how to sell online and make money online.
I’ve put together some of the best online tools and services that can help, no matter how you decide to make money online.
Although there are hundreds of online business ideas you can use to earn money online, every Internet business requires basic tools, along with their creativity.
In addition to the basic tools, there are hundreds of advanced widgets that surprise and writing programs and downloadable software. Making money is here to help you find these tools. So, get started now.
Importance of Exchanging Links (link exchange)
One of the most important jobs you have when you own a website should exchange links with other sites. It’s all about exposing your site to as many readers as possible and search engines. The more links you have to point out to your site, more traffic your going to have.
Although some web site better, if they are linked only to sites with similar content, I think there is always the best strategy. After all, you want more readers and only if you limit your site to similar sites, you are missing out on the sites of congratulations.
So, I say focus on similar sites and complimentary first and then still bind me to the other sites. Below are some services where people recommend placed to meet other site owners who wish to exchange link.
Is an exchange site traffic (traffic link exchange) by which you can promote and give aKnowledge your site or blog.
It is an excellent solution for strong and fast increase visits to your site. Best of all it’s free! free traffic. Once registered, automatically giving you 10 sites to promote and immediately begin to generate traffic to your pages. Then you start to accumulate credits, with clicks to the sites of other users.
For every click you want credits and offer 2 options to do: manual (manual surf) or automatic (autosurf). Within hours much credit and if you stop browsing the night with autosuf, earn thousands. With these credits, you can buy exhibition of banners, ads, etc.. You can also upgrader your account to earn more credits and increase the number of sites to promote. I really recommend it.
There are two types of link exchange, manual and automatic. The automatic so you can walk alone and you leave you can go to sleep or do anything else, this is good first, because it makes things easier, but at the vaz know that many people will do the same, and very few are to be those who look at your page. That’s why the manual is better, albeit more laborious, you know they are certain to look at your page. Here I leave SYSTEMS pages of the two, since it is advisable to put your website on all sides.

Page rank

When your website is crawled different search engine robots follow different links created on your page. It is only ignored when you have done some HTML coding into it. Each vote is calculated for each link to your website. In short this is the way how it works.
Links which are related your website’s homepage or some other page of your website will add information to PageRank. In this equation PageRank of your website is also taken into consideration. The site which is linked to your will also considers the PageRank with you. If it is a high PR website then vote always takes more weightage. So, generally talking there is a link which points to your website are not going to affect your PageRank. But, this is not going to be the same for links which are outbound. You have to take care that with whom you are linking to.
If you want to get links for your website then one thing which you can do is you can go for link exchange program. You have to put someone’s link into your website and webmaster of different site will also add link of your website on their different site’s pages. Always try to make sure that you should not put links on the website’s which is full of links which are not related to your topic. Even if you try to link to a website which is banned then you might get penalty for that. It will surely affect your PageRank. So, make sure that you keep regular checking with all your regular partners. You also need to keep two main things in mind. One is they are also linking to your site. Second thing is website should not be banned.
If you get a doubt that they have not kept your link then you can easily ask them to replace the link. Same way if that website was banned then immediately you should remove their link from your website. If the site is banned and still you are keeping their link on your website then it will affect your PageRank.
It is very important strategy in SEO to make a note of links from your link partners. There is also one good option, you can generate back link which will point to your site. There are many different ways to generate one way links. It is not going to affect you because theoretically speaking you doesn’t have control on them. There are four methods through which you can generate back links.
1.You can post comments on somebody’s blog or forums which should have link to your website.

2.You can also keep original content to different social bookmarking sites. There are many different such sites available on Internet today.

3.Even you can also submit articles which are related to your topic and don’t forget to put your own link in the article box.

4.You can also select the option in which you have to pay for the link exchange.
These methods will not only increase traffic to your site but also increase your PageRank.

Links

While doing banner advertising, the good thing that you can consider is getting involved with the banner advertising exchanging links. But how does it work for you?
Well, banner exchange service is a website (or group of websites that handle banner exchange services) that create a website for inviting visitors and online guests. These sites are created with banner ads but not text links so by clicking a certain banner it will route directly to the original website that supports the banner.
Now, here’s the thing. Banner exchange services work in a duplication manner.
First thing, the monitoring of the account is the “click through rates” of each site. The number of times that a visitor can click to another site then the site receives a half credit (1/2) toward putting their banner on different sites.
Basically, the more clicks from visitors the better chances of your banner ads appearing to a number of websites. So the equation goes: the more click through rates plus the more credits for your banner to appear plus the more click through rates back to your own site!
Apparently, we are not riding in a safe-side journey here when dealing with banner exchange services. And, we cannot expect on getting something right away while still in the process of generating traffic for your new website.
Usually, links and banner ads services are advertised as “free” but there are sites in which you are going to pay for them so that your articles will be placed on their websites. Banner exchange services may not be as cost-effective as they should be so consider some factors.
You have to make sure that you are getting the exact amount of traffic that you should be getting in that banner exchange site. The ratio in having 1,000 appearances should be at least 29-35 visitors for your banner ads.
Remember, the quality of your banner is a key in getting good traffic on the account and click through rates also. At the same time, never forget that the banner exchange services are on the right track in providing you good traffic.
So, you are not only affecting your click through rates with the quality of banner ads that you have but you will be impacting the banner exchange services you are currently attached with. That is how it is.

Links exchange

Link Exchange is the practice of exchanging links with other web site owners. Link Exchange is indeed one vital and effective form of SEO strategy that must not be ignored, instead, taken advantage of. Link exchange is whereby you can feature other websites’ links on your own website and in exchange, the partners will display your web site hyperlink on their web pages.
Reciprocal
Reciprocal links or link exchange is the process where two website owners agree to show the other’s link on their website. Reciprocal link exchange still is an important strategy of link popularity building despite all the measures taken by the search engines to diminish its effect. Reciprocal linking between websites is an important part of the search engine optimization process because Google uses link popularity algorithms (defined as the number of links that led to a particular page and the anchor text of the link) to rank websites for relevancy.
Google
Google is the world’s most popular search engine as we know. Google was the first search engine to determine the most relevant pages according to the relationships between websites. Google seems to increasingly want to see more and more organic backlinking. Google started all these trends including page rank and after year 2000, this practice has gained more popularity as search engines such as Google started favoring sites that had more links in the rankings.
Traffic
Increased link popularity and backlinking is Increased search engine ranking that brings you traffic. This provides traffic from other sites, possible permanent readers and more page views for your site. They are the biggest source of traffic for any site. Also if your link is placed on a very popular site, your traffic will increase as well.
Link exchange is a LONG TERM COMMITMENT and results are not instant or guaranteed. link exchange is a perfectly beneficial method of generating traffic when it’s done in natural volume for the benefit of the end user. The success of every web business lies in not only the content of the site but also its traffic. If you haven’t dove into building links to your website, you are missing out on a ton of organic traffic that could boost your sales.

Is it safe to link?

If a blog/website has linked to a particular page of my blog, is it ok with search engines if I link back from the same page or from another page on my blog? Or should I not link back at all, as search engines may consider it as link exchange?
Link exchanges were very popular some years ago. In fact they represented one of the main methods webmasters used to improve their search rankings. Then one day Google’s algorithm became more sophisticated, and link exchanges stopped working so well. On some cases it even harmed the sites involved.
This change gave link exchanges a bad reputation, and today most bloggers and website owners see them as an evil practice that might get you in trouble with Google (as the question itself illustrates). But, that is not entirely true.

What Google frowns upon are artificial or manipulative link exchanges. That is, link exchanges that have the sole purpose of artificially inflating the search rankings of the websites involved.
For example, suppose I have an online store that sells car parts, and then I decide to do a link exchange with my friend that has a weight loss blog. I put a link to his blog with the keyword “weight loss” on my sidebar, and he does the same for me with the keyword “car parts.” This link exchange is clearly artificial and intended to manipulate search rankings. As a result it could get both of our sites in trouble with Google.

Natural link exchanges, on the other hand, are fine with Google, because those are created to help users in the first place. For example, suppose I have a cooking blog. I could create a section in the sidebar called “Blogs I Read”, and then link to several cooking blogs I think have great content. After that I could contact the blog owners and ask if they wanted to partner and link to my blog as well. The main goal of these link exchanges is to help the users discover new and relevant resources, and not to manipulate search rankings. Sure, they might have a positive effect on the rankings, but that is a consequence.

Answering to the main question now: as long as you are linking back to that page for a reason (e.g., because you want to let your readers know about it, or because you want to add counter-argument to the discussion), Google won’t have a problem with that.

Here is a rule of thumb you can use in the future for any SEO related issue: if you are doing something because it makes sense either for your website or for your users (i.e., something to improve your navigation, to give more content to your readers, to let them know about a new section of your site) then Google is probably fine with that. If you are doing it mainly because you think it will improve your search rankings (e.g., adding keywords where they are not supposed to be, creating tags and tag clouds, getting links with optimized anchors), on the other hand, Google might not like it that much.

Simple to follow tips to get blog on top

 Write Content
This is the obvious part, to some. If you're going to be indexed by the search engines, you have to have content for them to link to. Make your content accurate, attractive, complete, relevant, and timely. The more you publish, the more random traffic you will get.

Read and Comment On Relevant Blogs
When you find blogs with posts relevant to yours, make polite and relevant comments. You can link to your blog and / or your posts, discretely. If you post comments anonymously, you can link your name with a URL. If you post under your Blogger user name, you'll link back to your Blogger profile. Or, you can put an in text link to a post, in the comment body.

Get Linked By As Many Sites As Possible
This is the paradoxical part. To publicize your blog, you have to be indexed by the search engines. To be indexed, you have to have weight. To have weight, you have to be linked already. This part takes hard work, and relevance.
  1. Post comments on web sites, of relevant content, with links to your blog.
  2. Participate in forums, and other social networking venues, with links to your blog.
  3. Get your friends, with relevant content, to link to your blog.
  4. Make your blog part of the Blogger community, by following and being followed.     blogging.nitecruzr.net

Promote blog

1. Get your friends to link to your blog, where your blog is relevant.
2. Participate in forums, where your blog is relevant, and include the URL.
3. Comment on other blogs, in relevant comments, and include the URL.
4. Put relevant and useful content in your blog.
5. Some search engines may index your blog using the site feed.  Be sure to activate the feed.
6. When you have done all of the above, your blog will have some weight.  Submit your blog to the search engines, for indexing.
7. Post frequently, and keep the content of your blog moving.

Tips to promote your blog

Here are my tips on how best to present or dress up your blog content :

1. Talk to your Niche : There are millions of sites/blogs out there and it doesn't make sense to compete with all of them. There is enough traffic in all the segments so create your own niche and talk to it. Instead of having a Technology Blog write about Wireless Technology instead and you will rise to the top of your pile.

2. Be an expert in your niche and provide expert advice. You can do this by starting a blog about your profession in which you are already an expert. Then you can provide authoritative advice on the subject. If you want to start blogging about something else research extensively into the subject before you start blogging so that your content is detailed and convincingly complete.

3. Your language should be simple and with no grammatical or spelling errors. As for the content Follow the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid!) Rule. Spellcheck your posts before publishing.

4. Use strong headlines in post titles and blog titles. Use Keywords in your headlines. For more information on keywords see Keywords Tips and Tricks for Bloggers. Use Headlines like "Top 10 Tips for.....". Such headlines are encouraged by Digg. See Digg for Bloggers.

5. Create short posts consisting of short paragraphs. Each paragraph should be made up of 2 to 3 lines only. Use bulleted or numbered lists. Viewers don't like reading long content on their monitors.

6. Create uptodate content. You can see the latest topics on Technorati and write about them. You can also see trends on Google to see what is hot and what is not. Post frequently. You should post at least once or twice a week if not per day. Search engines like new content.

7. Appeal to their emotions. For all his rationality man is still an emotional animal. If you can touch and tap the emotional vein running through humanity it will yield high dividends in terms of traffic. More people will be induced to comment on your blog if emotionally aroused.

8. Update your content. After posting the latest you have to keep it current as time flies. If you have a blog reporting entertainment news then you have to post the latest news on your blog and renew old content. You cannot have your site reporting that a celebrity couple is married when they have actually separated. Your will lose your readers.

9. Offer links to other sites with resources in your niche. If you have a site on painting you have to have a sidebar column with links pointing to other sites supplying painting material.

10. You can write in any language but offer language translation facilities for your viewers who may be from different regions. You can add language translation widgets to your blog with only two clicks from the top of the right column of this blog. No coding experience required. Just click the Install button below the +Add to Blogger graphics.

11. Podcast your posts. Record your podcast and include them in your posts. You can also submit them to podcast directories.

12. Invite bloggers in your niche to post in your blog. They will get a link back to their blog in return. You will get varied content which will serve to attract traffic.

13. Take part in Blog Carnivals. This is a type of magazine dedicated to a certain topic in which many bloggers submit articles in their blogs. Each edition of a blog carnival is in the form of a blog article that contains permalinks to other blog articles on the particular topic. The carnival travels appearing on a different blog each time.

14. Write on controversial topics depending on your audience. Sometimes this may have a backlash effect turning visitors away.

15. Attach a survey to a post. This invites interaction from the readers and you get to know the pulse of your reader. The results of these surveys gives you and your reader invaluable feedback.

16. Review other blogs/posts/consumer items/software. You can review for links or cash. Payperpost and others pay you to post reviews in your blogs. Review other blogs to get backlinks from them.

17. Increase traffic with the Z-List. This is a list of blogs at the bottom of the rankings which you publish in a post. These links are reflected in the standings of those blogs on Technorati and you can get valuable attention at the start of your blogging career.

18. Post a Trackback. Install Trackbacks in your blog. Now when you write about another post in your blog an excerpt will be added below that post automatically and that blog owner will read your post and if sufficiently interested will come over to your blog. This applies to his readers as well, thus increasing traffic to your blog.

19. Only keep relevant pictures on your blog as search engines ignore them except for their alt tags. If they are in BMP format they may increase page loading time.

20. Adapt Viral Strategies and give away Freebies. Give away free articles with your content and blog link below them. One useful strategy is to provide linkware which when put on the other blog will provide a link back to your blog. You can do this by supplying free templates/hacks/graphics/widgets/gadgets.

There are a number of different things that you can do to increase your blog popularity. Lets look at some of the tops that you can’t pass up.

Include an Author Biography

People who are reading your blog will enjoy being able to put a face to the writer, and giving them a biography to read will allow them to get a sense of who you are and what you are all about. Unless you are writing exclusively about your own self and your life, then you should not really be putting out too many personal details about yourself, because once you put information out there on the internet, you cannot take it back. Still, don’t be afraid to describe a little bit about who you are, and include an image too if you can.

Utilize RSS

Make sure that you have an RSS button and that it is easy for your readers to find. Don’t be afraid to include an RSS button with every post so that readers can easily sign up to receive RSS updates from your blog.

Exchange links with others

By exchanging links with other bloggers you will not only drive popularity to your site but as well contact with people who are writing on the same topic as you.

Links and Sidebar Content

You are going to want to make sure that everything in your links and your sidebar content is completely relevant. If you offer too many choices to your readers, it will become confusing for them and they may be less likely to click on any of the links you are providing, rendering them useless.

Own your Own Domain

There are a number of different services that are designed to give you a blog host and a domain name for free, and this is definitely a great beginner opportunity. Down along the line, however, owning your very own domain name and paying for real hosting is going to be better for you. This way you will have complete control over your content, rather than someone else being in charge.
You should begin by following these basic tips for blogging and then improve on them over time. If you want your blog to be successful then you need to start off with the basics and then continue to learn beyond that point. These basics will get you started, but improving on your blog time and time again means constantly learning what it takes to meet the needs of your readers.
